How we plan a month of social content

· Fortuna Media

Posting to social media every day is easy to start and hard to keep up. A monthly plan turns it from a scramble into managed, repeatable work. Instead of asking what to post each morning, you decide most of it once, in advance, and leave room to react to the days that matter.

Here is how we plan a month of social content for the businesses we work with, and how we keep it organized in the client portal so you can see what is coming and what has gone out.

Start with goals and pillars

Before any post is written, we agree on what the month is for. Are we trying to bring in new followers, point people to a service page, or keep a current audience warm. The goal shapes the mix, so it is worth a short conversation rather than an assumption.

From the goal we set a few content pillars. These are the three or four themes the account returns to, drawn from what your business actually does and what your audience asks about. Pillars keep the feed coherent and save time later, because every post can trace back to one of them rather than starting from a blank page.

Map a simple calendar

Next we lay the pillars across a calendar and balance the types of posts. A month that is all promotion wears thin quickly, so we aim for a mix:

  • Educational posts that answer a common question or explain how something works
  • Behind-the-scenes posts that show the people and process behind the business
  • Promotional posts that point to a service, offer, or page
  • Engagement posts that ask a question or invite a reply

The calendar is deliberately simple: a date, a pillar, a post type, and a short note on the idea. You can see the whole month at a glance in the portal and flag anything that does not fit before we build it.

Batch the creation

With the plan agreed, we create in batches rather than one post at a time. Writing the captions together, then designing the images together, keeps the voice and look consistent and is faster than switching tasks all day. Drafts go into the portal for you to review, where you can comment or approve before anything is scheduled.

Schedule, but leave room

Approved posts are scheduled across the month so the account stays active without anyone posting by hand each day. We do not fill every slot. A few gaps are left on purpose, so we can add a timely post when something real comes up, a question worth answering, a quiet news moment in your field, or a change on your side that customers should know about.

What we do not do is chase fake engagement or report numbers we cannot stand behind. Growth comes from posting useful things on a steady schedule, and that takes a little patience.

Review, then plan the next month

At the end of the month we look back before we look forward. We note which posts drew genuine replies and saves, which pillars carried their weight, and which ideas fell flat. That read on the month feeds directly into the next plan, so the calendar gets sharper over time rather than repeating itself. It is ongoing work, tracked in one place, and built to improve with each cycle.
